About Brown's Guide to Georgia
Brown's Guide and eMarketSouth have announced that Brown's Guide to Georgia, long the most popular travel and recreation guide to the state, is online with over 5,000 profiles of Georgia travel and recreation resources and more to come.
The website will eventually include every professional travel and recreation resource in the state according to editor and publisher Fred Brown. "We are adding to the number of profiles every day," Brown says. "In addition, we are working with some of the top outfitters and experts in the state to include guidebook-style 'First Person' articles on hiking, paddling, biking and a myriad of other outdoor activities."
The site will include photos and videos and provide website visitors with opportunities to contribute comments, photos and videos about their own experiences traveling in Georgia.
Brown says that travel and recreation resources that do not find their profiles on the site have the opportunity to add them at no charge. All of the listings on the site may expand and upgrade their profiles for a modest monthly fee.
"We have long believed that the Brown's Guide concept and format was uniquely suited to the Internet," says eMarketSouth Managing Partner Bob Letcher. "With the combination of Brown's Guide's editorial expertise and eMarketSouth's programming and Internet marketing experience, we are developing what will not only be a great resource for website visitors but a tremendous communications and sales vehicle for all of the travel and recreation resources of the state. The site will exponentially expand the reach of the original Brown's Guide to reach a national and international audience," Letcher said.
"The site is attractive and fun to navigate," says eMarketSouth partner and chief programmer Jack Scott. "In terms of finding what you want in the world of travel and recreation in Georgia, I believe this site provides the best experience in the state."
Founded in 1972, Brown's Guide grew rapidly to become the largest magazine in Georgia when it was acquired by Days Inn and founder Fred Brown joined the hotel company to publish the 250,000-circulation American Traveler Magazine. When Days Inn was purchased by an outside investment group, Brown re-acquired the Brown's Guide title and it lay dormant while he went on to write, edit or publish over a dozen books, including The Georgia Conservancy's Guide to the North Georgia Mountains; The Riverkeeper's Guide to the Chattahoochee; Macmillan's Unofficial Guide to Atlanta for the 1996 Olympics, and The Best of Georgia Farms Cookbook and Tour Book.
Now, in partnership with Savannah-based eMarket South, Brown is utilizing the technology and reach of the Internet to greatly expand the content and graphics of one of the most popular Georgia editorial products of all time for a state, national and international audience.
